All India Presiding Officers Conference to Strengthen India’s Democratic Foundation

The upcoming All India Presiding Officers Conference, scheduled for January 27–28 in Mumbai, will bring together the  Presiding Officers from across the nation to discuss important matters pertaining to India’s democratic fabric. It is a forum for presiding officers to provide meaningful perspectives and decisions that will strengthen the democratic basis of India and seeks to open the path for a more robust, reactive democracy. The conference’s agenda, revolves around “Strengthening India’s Democratic Foundation,” reflecting shared commitment to strengthen the cornerstones of the country’s governance.

Empowering Local Governance

One of the conference’s main themes is the need of empowering local communities. It will underline the need of effective parliamentary and assembly oversight in promoting openness and transparency at the grassroots level. By enhancing local government, the conference hopes to develop a more responsive and accountable democratic system that serves residents’ needs at the grassroots level.
